THE U.S. TRIES TO THWART THE UN CLIMATE SUMMIT

Powerful forces directing the richest state on Earth - historically responsible for the greatest part of CO2 emissions and with one of the highest per capita CO2 pollution figures - are trying to thwart the probably most important Conference ever held - The December Copenhagen UN Conference on Climate Change. An avaricious U.S. Congress together with extremely powerful "dirty energy" and military lobbies may succeed in emptying the Conference of any real meaning, bringing the poorest countries over the brink of climatic catastrophy. In this context, let us be very clear that the U.S. military budget represents at least 42% of all the world´s military spending - according to reliable sources reaching a total of one trillion USD in 2009: that is so far the only tangible U.S. „contribution“.
