The most alarming thing is this news is not highlighted in mainstream newspapers in Bangladesh. We may request the government to take necessary actions, but my question is "Who will do it?" Government itself uses force to stop voices of students and others.

What happens when a person puts on a uniform in Bangladesh? Do they discard every shred of humanity to make the transition?

I once explained the following phrase to an American colleague: "Baghe chule atharo gha, pulish-e chule chotrish gha." He knew about corrupt cops in America, but I am sure this good friend of mine was thinking I was making things up. He kept saying things could not be that bad.

And those were the good old days before the extra-judicial killings, before newspapers started putting quotation-marks around "crossfire."

RAB was formed to handle crimes the "corrupt" police could not be trusted with. Now they are corrupt too, and beating journalists to hide their crimes.

Why is the government so reluctant to admit this, and prosecute the criminals in uniform? I am sure there are honest officers in RAB -- why are they allowing a few criminals to drag their name down?

I wish Mr. Alam a speedy recovery, and justice for his pain and suffering.

Anybody who thinks that this caretaker/interim/neutral/emergency government is out there to clean up corruption and institute democracy is living in fool's paradise. They have games up in their sleeves, and they are partnering with BNP segments and Jamaat. This is a dark time indeed.

What next... final rehabilitation of the religionists seem to be on the agenda... EC in fact slipped out or was it only a gimmick. It surely didn't feel like a gimmick. But, will they in fact ban religous politics? That will be something.

I am hoping, despite the bleak prospect laid out in front of my eyes where human right is made a mockery of and motivated political purging coupled with religionist rise is only expressing completely different.

RAB is an acronym that stands for "Rashtrio shontrash" in the name of wiping shontrash off the country!!!

I am so outraged and disgusted with this killing machine called RAB! How can this kind of medieval barbarism continue in our own country, by the people who were sworn to protect public lives... who were hired with the tax payers
